ABCs, The Scavenger Hunt…

For this assignment our class met up at Balboa Park on a Saturday morning. We had a photography scavenger hunt!

We were to go around photographing items beginning with the letters of the alphabet. The parameters for what was allowed and what wasn’t made the assignment even more difficult.

These are some of my favorites from that photo session…

H – hibiscus

Exposure: 1/15 sec at f/5.6, ISO100
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

K – keys

Exposure: 1/250 sec at f/11, ISO100
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Q – quadruped

Exposure: 1/125 sec at f/11, ISO100
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

R – roots

Exposure: 1/8 sec at f/11, ISO100
Lens: 70-300mm f/4-5.6

U – underwater

Exposure: 1/125 sec at f/5.6, ISO100
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Filter: Polarizing

W – wheel

Exposure: 1/30 sec at f/5.6, ISO100
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Z – Zulu

Exposure: 1/60 sec at f/11, ISO100
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

My instructor wasn’t fond of my use of underwater, he said I should be underwater to be able to use it. Oh well, I got to play with my polarizing filter and got a great shot of the koi.

As for the Zulu, that was great luck! My taste-tester and I had recently watched a mini-series on Shaka Zulu and were psyched to get this entertainer’s picture. He was telling the story of Shaka Zulu and ululating. It was cool that we knew the story and could totally enjoy his performance.

Until next time…
