Given Pause…

Some things I’ve read lately that have given me pause…

“…I like those scars, they remind me that the worst possible thing did happen and I am still here. I can still fight it. I am regaining my life.”

“… And when my husband tells me I’m beautiful I’m going to believe him and say thank you.”
“I am me and that is enough. I am me and that is more than enough. I am me and I am full of love and hope and courage and curiousity and wisdom…and when it comes right down to it —- just accepting who we are, as we are…That is happiness.”

“What are you running towards?”
“I’m running towards inner peace. I’d like to think I get there a bit more with each run.”

“…I did want to do something that would get my creative juices flowing everyday. And then the aha moment came to me.”
“365 days. 365 items of clothing. 365 dollars. And the blogging begins…”

    – New Dress A Day, About

“All that you touch and all that you see
all that you taste, all you feel
and all that you love and all that you hate
all you distrust, all you save
and all that you give and all that you deal
and all that you buy, beg, borrow or steal
and all you create and all you destroy
and all that you do and all that you say
and all that you eat and everyone you meet
and all that you slight and everyone you fight
and all that is now and all that is gone
and all that’s to come and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon “

Song Lyrics, Eclipse, Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon)

“I don’t see it (the last words quoted above) as a riddle. The album uses the sun and the moon as symbols; the light and the dark; the good and the bad; the life force as opposed to the death force. I think it’s a very simple statement saying that all the good things life can offer are there for us to grasp, but that the influence of some dark force in our natures prevents us from seizing them. The song addresses the listener and says that if you, the listener are affected by that force, and if that force is a worry to you, well I feel exactly the same too. The line ‘I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon’ is me speaking to the listener, saying, ‘I know you have these bad feelings and impulses because I do too and one of the ways I can make direct contact with you is to share with you the fact that I feel bad sometimes.”

Until next time…
