Cleaning Products
-
vinegar – I use this all the time to clean and/or deodorize. I’ve use it in my steam cleaner instead of carpet cleaner. I pour it directly on a puppy accident. I also pour a bit of it into my dishwater.
baking soda – I use this when I need a gentle scrubbing for a pot. I also use it to clean my tea makers with some vinegar. I will soon employ it as a carpet deodorizer… a future post.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day – surface scrub
Method – dishwasher detergent, dish washing liquid
Earthworm Family-Safe Drain Cleaner – drain declogger
Citrus Magic – air freshener
-
Method – hand soap, toilet bowl cleaner, multi-surface cleaner, glass cleaner,
hardwood floor cleaner… after reading several articles on the web about how to care for hardwood floors, putting this cleaner into a spray bottle works best to distribute the product without pooling.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day – all purpose cleaner… I need to buy some more of this… in DC I would use this to clean all surfaces of the bathroom and I’d also use it to mop the floors.
-
vinegar – yes, I use it in my laundry too, I pour about 1/2 cup into every wash with the laundry soap.
beauty products
-
Jason – sunscreen
Giovanni – sunset styling lotion hair changer, anti-frizz serum, l.a. hold hair spritz
Kenra Platinum – texturizing taffy
Alba Botanica – very emollient body lotion
Tom’s of Maine – mouthwash, toothpaste

Lily of the Desert – Aloe 80 Organics – aloe vera moisturizing face cream… preferred face lotion
-
Jason – satin shower body wash
Lily of the Desert – Aloe 80 Organics – aloe vera facial wash
Alba – cocoa butter dry-repair conditioner… I also like the shampoo that goes with this… at this time we are using a conventional 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner and then I condition again. I have not been able to find a cruelty-free 2-in-1. The 2-in-1 is my taste-tester’s preference and after being on the road, I have just gotten use to using his shampoo and my conditioner.
hair color
-
Manic Panic – amplified flash lightning 40, ultra violet
Naturtint – 5C Light Copper Chestnut
Products I still need to find cruelty-free are: deodorant, nail polish remover, 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, and a grout cleaner – I currently have a bleach pen for the kitchen… I’m not thrilled about this, since I’m not a fan of bleach… but with a white kitchen and a tile counter top I’ve yet to find a cleaner that can clean that grout.
